VoIP Feature: Caller ID Block

Protect Your Privacy with 67 Caller ID Block

If you want to make a discreet call to someone and are not sure who will pick up the phone, you can use this feature to hide your identity from showing up at the other phone.

All you have to do is to dial 67 before you dial the number. This facility is provided free because of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirement that all phone companies should make available the facility for Blocking and unblocking of Caller ID.

This is one of the basic features of VoIP services and you should get it free with all the calling plans.
Drawback of Blocking Caller ID
One possible drawback of this feature is that you may not get to the party you called at all.

This is because when you turn on the Caller ID Blocking feature, your number would not show on the Caller ID-enabled phone. This means that if you call a person with such a phone, that person wouldn't know from where the call is coming.  If this person does not like to receive calls from anonymous numbers, your call could be ignored.

Another way this feature could work against you is that your call may be blocked if the party you called has enabled the Anonymous Call Block feature.
