VoIP Feature:Telemarketer Call Block

Who Likes To Be Pitched? Do You?

Want to keep those annoying telemarketers off?
Then Telemarketer Call Block is the feature to use with your VoIP phone.

How Telemarketers Get To You:

Telemarketers typically use automated (predictive) dialing system to call a list of phone numbers, while hiding their Caller ID. This system waits for a few seconds to get connected, listening for a special tone indicating that the number is not in service. If the auto dialing system gets this tone, it does three things: it disconnects immediately, takes the not-in-service number off its dial list and goes on to dial the next potential customer.

How The Same Technology Thwarts Them

Telemarketer Call Block uses this same feature of automated dialing to keep the telemarketer off your back. When your VoIP phone detects an anonymous call coming from an automated dialing system, it sends a special "not in service" tone. This fools the system into thinking that your number is not in service. The telemarketer is stopped in his/her tracks, without getting through to you.

This VoIP feature does not stop the calls of your friends and relatives from reaching you even if they don't show their Caller ID. This is because this blocking feature goes to work only when it detects calls without Caller ID which have been placed through an auto dial system.
