VoIP Feature: Toll Free Numbers

How Toll Free Numbers Work

When somebody calls you on a toll free number, you pay the charge for the call.

Toll free numbers are great for business because a potential client would be more ready to call you toll free rather than pay a charge for making an inquiry about your product or service.

Toll free or 800 calling has been a standard feature on the regular telephone network for years. Now it is available with most internet phones. Because this service is cheaper with a VoIP phone than a regular phone, you may like to have this feature for personal use as well as for your business.

For instance, a toll free number is a great convenience to have for keeping in touch with your kids at college or an elderly relative with a limited income living away from you. It is cheaper than calling collect and comes very much handy in an emergency or calling your home while traveling.

For giving you a toll free number, VoIP service providers typically charge a small monthly fee - around $5 - with some minutes free, after which you pay for the incoming toll free calls according to your calling plan - the monthly fee and free minutes may vary with different VoIP service providers. You can also have separate toll free numbers for business and personal use.
